Sustainable living for a higher quality of life.

The Vicus Gardens represent forward-looking architecture that focuses on sustainability and resource conservation. Our project is implemented in partnership with S-Struktur, where Jörn van Rey acts as partner and client. The design comes from the renowned architectural firm SWA (Schwan Weber Architekten), which is known for its great dynamic planning spirit.

The residential project comprises four structures and offers a total of 90 barrier-free apartments on a site area of approximately 8,500 square meters in Cologne's Speckgürtel. With a total construction volume of 40 million euros and a TGA share of 5.3 million euros, high standards are set in this project. The innovative modular timber construction, the green roofs and facades, and the central energy supply by means of an ice storage system not only ensure ecological sustainability, but also create living space that promises a high quality of life. The plot size is 8,500 square meters, while the floor space (NGF) comprises 9,500 square meters.

A pioneer in ecological architecture and energy-efficient living.

Vicus Gardens focuses on sustainable action and attaches great importance to social aspects. The new residential quarter offers barrier-free apartments, 20 percent of which are wheelchair-accessible, as well as quiet residential courtyards and communal areas. The sustainable construction method with reusable materials and the integration of nature and the environment make the project a pioneer in ecological architecture. The modular wood construction represents a practical solution that is in harmony with the environment.

The project complies with the current energy standard GEG (Building Energy Law), but the aim is to reach an even higher standard to ensure an even more efficient energy supply. The aim is to enable a sustainable and resource-saving energy supply and thus contribute to environmental protection.

New standards in ecological architecture.

The sustainable energy concept of Vicus Gardens includes a central ice storage, as well as photovoltaic systems, enabling efficient cooling and heating of the apartments while using renewable energy. In addition, the heavily landscaped outdoor spaces feature gathering places for people of all ages, promoting social interaction and community togetherness.

This sustainable design not only allows for efficient use of resources, but also helps to protect the environment. In addition, the greening of the roofs and facades allows the neighborhood to blend harmoniously with its natural surroundings, minimizing its impact on the environment. The green elements not only create a pleasant atmosphere, but also support the natural cooling of the apartments in summer and provide a habitat for insects.

Completion is expected in 2025 and promises a new era of sustainable living with a high quality of life.
